The Governor's School for Tourism has an amazing opportunity for any 9th and 10th grade student. The dates for 2024 are June 20-June 29. This is honestly an opportunity of a lifetime for students. They will be going whitewater rafting, staying at WV State Parks, and visiting all 9 of the travel regions in WV. We’ll be traveling on charter buses and it’s all free!

Meet our 2024-25 Secondary Teacher of the Year Tim Yunker, a rockstar Social Studies teacher at Greenbrier West High School. Earlier this week 9th and 10th grade students were given PEP Plans and Scheduling forms for next year. These forms are due to the office tomorrow. Please fill this out with your child and be sure they return them by tomorrow. 10th Grade students were also given CTE applications, these are due no later than April 30th. Thank you!
Greenbrier County Schools was one of the first counties in WV to offer a technology device for every student 15 years ago. GCS students in grades 5-12 receive take-home devices to increase educational access at home.
All 11th grade students will be taking the SAT tomorrow April 10. Please remind them to bring their charged Chromebooks and charger.

All Juniors will be completing the Digital Readiness Check on Wednesday, March 20th at 9am. Please do your best to ensure that your student is at school on time and brings a charged Chromebook. All Juniors will be taking the SAT on Wednesday, April 10th. The digital readiness check is a key component to ensuring their prepared for taking the digital SAT. Thanks.
The Region IV Social Studies Fair was held on Saturday, March 16th, at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School. Participants previously won first place in their category at the school and county levels before advancing to the regional level. A total of 84 projects from 4 counties in our region competed in this year's fair. The results are available at https://5il.co/2gqpw.
Greenbrier County had 27 first-place winners, nine second-place finishers, and four third-place finishers. The first-place winners in their category, division, and type will advance to the WV State Social Studies Fair, which will take place on April 10th at the Charleston Coliseum. There, they will compete against other first-place winners from the other regions in our state.
The Social Studies Fairs provide students the opportunity to ask essential questions, recognize patterns of behavior, think critically, create solutions, predict outcomes, and draw conclusions to help them learn to solve problems.
