Turning Creativity into Opportunity at Greenbrier West!
Students in the Greenbrier West Afterschool Program's Side Gigs initiative are gaining valuable entrepreneurial and career-ready skills by learning how to create and sell custom apparel. Under the guidance of Ms. Mooney, students are experiencing the entire t-shirt production process from start to finish.
Recently, one student successfully designed, printed, and heat-pressed a custom t-shirt, learning each step involved in transforming an idea into a finished product. Through this hands-on experience, students develop skills in:
Graphic design and creativity
Digital technology and printing
Heat press operation and production techniques
Quality control and product finishing
Entrepreneurship and small business concepts
Marketing and customer-focused design
Financial literacy and income generation
The Side Gigs program helps students discover how their talents and creativity can become marketable skills. By learning how to create products that people want to buy, students gain a better understanding of entrepreneurship, pricing, production costs, and the value of hard work.
